Angelo Glass Miel is a unique and eye-catching drinking glass crafted from our Angelo plaster piece in the shape of a monk’s head. The original plaster piece has been transformed into a functional piece of drinkware, creating a perfect blend of art and functionality. Years ago, Sébastien (one of our founders) was lucky to work on a restoration project for the Saint Sulpice Church in Paris.  He found several plaster heads that were about 200 years old in the basement of the church and was able to keep some of them. These pieces were made with a technique used at the time of Rodin. We have been offering these very special pieces, cast from molds made from the original sculptures for a while now and have decided to work them in glass. The Angelo Glass Miel is mouth-blown from 100% recycled glass by our master glassblowers.

The Nature of Handmade

If you would like to complete an already existing set of glassware, please make sure you send us a picture of the glasses so that we can match the set as close as possible to the ones you have.

General information

These are entirely made by hand and each creation is unique. Therefore, there may be a slight variation in color, texture, and size between each piece. On the base of each item, you can feel the pontil mark left by the glassblower’s cane. The presence of this mark indicates that the glass was blown freehand. This is the beauty of handmade.

Cleaning care

We do recommend handwashing as much as possible to avoid scratches from the dishwasher and to keep the glass sparkling. But, know that our glassware is dishwasher resistant and can be cleaned in the dishwasher

Colored glass

Pigmented glass is mixed into the furnace during the glassblowing. This means that the glass itself is colored instead of painted. Our glass is durable and no changes or fading occur with continued use over time.

Cleaning care

All plaster and terracotta pieces are not suitable for use with water. You can dust each piece with a dry cloth.

Candle care

Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/2-cm in length. This allows the candle to burn more slowly and also avoid unsightly black smoke marks around the edge of the glass.

Every time you burn your La Soufflerie candle, allow it to burn at least until the whole top of the candle is liquid. This will help your candle burn more evenly for each burning session.

After blowing out your candle, re-center and straighten the wick.
When using your candlestick holder, do not let the flame touch the glass. Blow the candle out once it gets close to the candle stick holder. Do not place your candle on a cool surface like marble. If the bottom of the hot candle comes in contact with a cold material, the glass may crack.

Do not burn your candle all the way down. Leave at least 1/2-cm of wax in the container to avoid cracking the bottom.Once you have finished burning your candle, hand wash with warm water and soap until the dried wax melts away. You now have a new La Soufflerie piece to use!
