A Parisian Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving in Paris may seem like a rare concept, but at La Soufflerie, we’ve reimagined the holiday with a Parisian twist — blending warmth, elegance, and a little touch of magic to create a Thanksgiving experience unlike any other. Picture this: A cozy Parisian apartment, a beautifully set wooden table adorned with La Soufflerie’s signature glassware, serveware, and tableware, where each piece adds a layer of charm and sophistication. This isn’t just a meal; it’s an experience, one where French savoir-faire meets the warmth of an American tradition.

As the candles flicker and the scent of roasted vegetables fills the air, the real star of the show is the food. We’ve crafted a Thanksgiving spread that is both familiar and unexpected, featuring a beautifully roasted turkey infused with a fresh, aromatic glaze of lemon, garlic, honey, and olive oil — a twist on the traditional recipe. This subtle yet flavorful blend transforms the turkey, keeping it juicy and tender while adding a rich, zesty glaze that perfectly complements the roasted root vegetables. The end result? A meal that feels comforting, but with a touch of French refinement.

The Heart of the Table: La Soufflerie Serveware

Our Thanksgiving table is more than just a setting; it’s an invitation to gather, savor, and share. La Soufflerie’s serveware, glassware, and tableware bring a Parisian touch to the occasion. The glassware sparkles under the soft glow of candlelight, while the earthy tones of the ceramics create a natural, yet elevated vibe. Each piece is designed to bring beauty and functionality to your home, whether you’re hosting a grand feast or an intimate gathering.

The table setting is intentionally designed to invite guests into a feeling of comfort — the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger long after the plates are cleared. And, with the big turkey and roasted veggies elegantly displayed in La Soufflerie’s serving pieces, every bite is paired with a visual feast, offering an experience that’s both satisfying for the taste buds and the eyes.

The Parisian Twist on Thanksgiving: A Recipe to Try

We’ve put a twist on the classic Thanksgiving turkey recipe by infusing it with a tangy, savory glaze made from fresh lemon, garlic, honey, and olive oil. The process is simple yet incredibly flavorful:

  1. The Glaze: Combine lemon zest, crushed garlic, a drizzle of honey, and a few spoonfuls of olive oil in a bowl. Stir until the ingredients form a smooth glaze.
  2. The Turkey: Rub the glaze generously over the turkey, making sure to coat it evenly. This will help lock in moisture and create a beautiful caramelized skin once it roasts.
  3. The Veggies: Add a selection of root vegetables — think carrots, parsnips, and sweet potatoes — to the roasting pan, drizzling them with any leftover glaze.
  4. Roast: Place the turkey and vegetables in the oven and roast until golden brown and beautifully fragrant.

The result is a turkey that’s savory, tangy, and perfectly complemented by the rich flavors of the roasted veggies. The honey adds just enough sweetness, while the lemon and garlic keep everything balanced and fresh. A true celebration of simple ingredients coming together in harmony.

Candle care

Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/2-cm in length. This allows the candle to burn more slowly and also avoid unsightly black smoke marks around the edge of the glass.

Every time you burn your La Soufflerie candle, allow it to burn at least until the whole top of the candle is liquid. This will help your candle burn more evenly for each burning session.

After blowing out your candle, re-center and straighten the wick.
When using your candlestick holder, do not let the flame touch the glass. Blow the candle out once it gets close to the candle stick holder. Do not place your candle on a cool surface like marble. If the bottom of the hot candle comes in contact with a cold material, the glass may crack.

Do not burn your candle all the way down. Leave at least 1/2-cm of wax in the container to avoid cracking the bottom.Once you have finished burning your candle, hand wash with warm water and soap until the dried wax melts away. You now have a new La Soufflerie piece to use!

Cleaning care

All plaster and terracotta pieces are not suitable for use with water. You can dust each piece with a dry cloth.

General information

These are entirely made by hand and each creation is unique. Therefore, there may be a slight variation in color, texture, and size between each piece (approximately 1cm-2cm from piece to piece). On the base of each item, you can feel the pontil mark left by the glassblower’s cane. The presence of this mark indicates that the glass was blown freehand. This is the beauty of handmade.

Cleaning care

We do recommend handwashing as much as possible to avoid scratches from the dishwasher and to keep the glass sparkling. But, know that our glassware is dishwasher resistant and can be cleaned in the dishwasher

Colored glass

Pigmented glass is mixed into the furnace during the glassblowing. This means that the glass itself is colored instead of painted. Our glass is durable and no changes or fading occur with continued use over time.
