Souvenirs from our Tour de France

Chambéry

View-of-the-chambery-snow-capped-mountains-with-chair-lift

Bonjour, dear friends!

We’ve arrived in the charming region of Chambéry, tucked away at the foot of the French Alps, and let me just say – c’est magnifique! We’ve visited this enchanting corner of France before, but in winter, with snow draping the mountains like a cozy blanket, it’s even more magical. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re living in a snow globe—perfectly picturesque and a little dreamlike.

This time, we strolled around the majestic Lac du Bourget, France’s largest lake, basking in its serene beauty. With its crystal-clear waters reflecting the autumn sunlight and the snow-touched peaks towering in the distance, it’s the kind of place that whispers inspiration into your soul. Chambéry itself is just as delightful, especially the Fontaine des Éléphants, Chambéry’s most iconic landmark. The grand stone pachyderms gazing down the bustling streets make you feel like you’ve stumbled into a scene from a French storybook. And, of course, we couldn’t resist paying a visit to the grand Château de Chambéry, which somehow feels more regal against the crisp mountain air.

It was here, in this peaceful Alpine escape, that the Bosselé Capsule Collection came to life. Inspired by the snow-capped surroundings, we crafted these pieces as an ode to the region’s beauty and tranquility. The name “Bosselé” is French for “dented,” a nod to the unique, textured surface of each vessel—like the delicate undulations of snowdrifts that catch the light in the most mesmerizing way.

Our Solifore Bosselé White, a minimalist yet striking piece, was born from the solitude we felt gazing at the stillness of Lac du Bourget. Just like a single bloom standing tall amidst the snowy landscape, this solifore vase holds its own, whether cradling a single flower or standing beautifully bare.

The Vase Bosselé White was inspired by the soft curves of the snowbanks that lined our path along the lake. Its generous, rounded form captures that same serene embrace, perfect for displaying a lush bouquet or standing as a statement piece on its own.

We couldn’t forget the culinary delights we indulged in during our stay, which inspired the Saucière Bosselé White. Designed to hold sauces or dressings with elegance, its graceful yet sturdy form reminds us of the simple yet refined pleasures of French cuisine—like a savory fondue shared on a cold evening.

Finally, the Verre Bosselé White brings it all together. This glass, with its gentle dimples and soft, snowy opacity, is an ode to those cozy nights sipping wine by the fire after a day of exploring Chambéry’s snowy streets. It’s not just a glass—it’s a little piece of the Alps, captured in every sip.

The vessels in this Bosselé collection are mouth-blown from recycled opaline glass, making each one as unique as the snowflakes that dusted our path. The subtle milkiness of the glass, achieved through a careful process involving opacifying substances, mimics the soft glow of the alpine snow. Just as no two snowflakes are alike, each Bosselé piece is one-of-a-kind, thanks to our talented artisans who pour their heart into shaping every curve and dimple by hand.

We were so inspired to also create a limited edition version of our iconic Verre Tête and Vase Tête in  in the milky white opaline glass. Make sure to get them before they sell out!

It’s hard not to be inspired here. Chambéry, with its cozy charm and snowy peaks, provided the perfect backdrop for this collection. Every piece is like a little reminder of the serene beauty we experienced in the Alps—a blend of the natural world and artisanal craftsmanship.

If you ever find yourself in Chambéry, take a stroll around Lac du Bourget or stand in awe of the Fontaine des Éléphants, and let your imagination run wild. Who knows what you’ll create?

À bientôt !

Bordeaux

Bonjour from Bordeaux!

Bienvenue to the latest segment of our Tour de France! After a short but oh-so-scenic drive from Sauvignon territory, we arrived in the heart of Bordeaux. Oh là là, mes amis, talk about a wine lover’s dream come true! This magical stop inspired some of our newest creations.

Naturally, Bordeaux’s charm had us buzzing with inspiration, especially after a few glasses of those bold reds. I mean, how could we not be? Imagine sipping a deep, velvety Merlot while indulging in a steak bien cuit, paired with some local cheeses so creamy they make you want to move here. As we clinked our glasses, we couldn’t help but marvel at how this city could feel both sophisticated and down-to-earth at the same time. And that’s exactly what inspired Bordeaux Baby—a glass designed to capture the essence of Bordeaux in one formidable sip. With a curvy, generous bowl to let those deep reds breathe (and flirt with your senses), this glass is ready to embrace every bold pour. Just like Bordeaux itself, it’s unapologetically grand!

And it wasn’t just the wines that spoke to us. Bordeaux has this way of blending tradition with a modern twist, which got us thinking—why settle for anything ordinary? That’s when the idea for something a little playful, a little cheeky, struck. Imagine a glass with a twist, literally! Our Serpentin Petit Transparent is inspired by the winding streets and the serpentine flow of the Gironde river that snakes through the region. It has a sleek band detail that wraps around the glass like a serpent and makes even a glass of water feel a little more special. It’s the perfect nod to Bordeaux’s effortless style—classic, but never boring.

Of course, Bordeaux’s love for all things simple yet refined didn’t stop at the wine. We found ourselves fascinated by the minimalist beauty of the carafes and glassware used in the local cafés. Every vessel seemed to have its own story, and that inspired us to craft our newest carafe, Pissou Transparent, that is both multifunctional and effortlessly chic—perfect for pouring wine, water, or even displaying a single bloom. There’s something about Bordeaux’s mix of elegance and practicality that just begged to be celebrated in this way.

And let’s not forget the wildlife that subtly surrounds this wine region—birds darting between the vines, a reminder of how nature and winemaking are intertwined here. That playful energy? Well, it inspired us to bring back our Oiseau Petit Transparent. A whimsical bird-shaped bottle that, like Bordeaux, is elegant with a twist of fun, ready to perch on your table as a quirky carafe or bud vase.

So, grab a bottle of your favorite Bordeaux red, pour it into your Bordeaux Baby or Serpentin Petit, and transport yourself to one of the chicest cities in France without leaving your kitchen.
Because, as the French say,
La vie est trop courte pour boire du mauvais vin (life’s too short to drink bad wine)!

Stay tuned for the next stop on our Tour de France.
Who knows what’s in store (besides more wine, obviously)?

À la teinne!

Sauvignon

Coucou La Soufflerie Lovers!

We’ve been busy swirling, sipping, and sketching on our travels across France, and the next treasure to join our collection is très chic!

If there’s one place that knows how to steal our hearts, it’s the sun-kissed southwest of France. Home to rolling vineyards, dreamy châteaux, and some of the best white wine we’ve ever tasted. Our stay in the Sauvignon Blanc region was nothing short of magnifique. And naturally, we didn’t just leave with a few bottles in hand (okay, maybe more than a few). We also came away with a fresh burst of inspiration for our newest glass: the Sassy Sauvignon.

But let’s rewind a bit, shall we? Our time in the Sauvignon region wasn’t just all about the wine—well, maybe 95% of it was! Here’s a peek into our whirlwind stay, complete with vineyard hopping, cheese devouring, and a sprinkle of glass-blowing genius.

Vineyard Vibes & Sunshine Sips

We kicked things off in classic wine-lover style: hopping from vineyard to vineyard, tasting our way through some of the most zesty Sauvignon Blancs. From the zing of citrus to that deliciously crisp finish, every bottle was like a little party in a glass.

Our favorite spot? A picturesque vineyard in the heart of Entre-Deux-Mers, surrounded by rows of vines that stretched as far as the eye could see. Blue skies, a warm breeze, a glass of ice-cold Sauvignon Blanc in hand, and a cheeky French winemaker chatting away about the terroir. Perfection, non?

We learned all about how the bright acidity and herbaceous notes of Sauvignon Blanc are rooted in the local limestone soils—mineralité, baby! The wine’s fresh, green aromas mixed with the sunny landscape made us want to capture that joie de vivre and bottle it up… but since we’re not winemakers, we did the next best thing and created a glass that feels just as airy and lively.

Wine & Cheese? Oui, Please!

Of course, no wine trip is complete without a deep dive into the region’s fromage. If you haven’t paired a bright Sauvignon Blanc with some gooey chèvre, you are seriously missing out. We spent one glorious afternoon at a quaint little fromagerie, munching on everything from tangy chèvre to nutty Comté, with each bite making our wine taste even more vibrant.

Our top pairing? A Sauv Blanc with a hint of peach paired with a creamy, herb-covered chèvre that melted in our mouths. This perfect combo of crisp wine and soft cheese got our creative wheels turning—how could we translate this into a design? We wanted something that captured the freshness and fun of these flavors.

Château Dreams & Design Inspiration

One of the highlights of our stay? Visiting some seriously fairytale-worthy châteaux. We strolled through grand halls and sipped wine in gardens that looked like they were plucked straight out of a movie. It was all so elegant, yet still playful. That’s when we realized—our next glass design had to be all about that contrast: refined but whimsical, polished but fun. Just like those vineyards and châteaux, Sauvignon Blanc is lighthearted but also sophisticated.

It became clear: we needed a glass that didn’t take itself too seriously but still made you feel like you were treating yourself to something special every time you used it.

The Birth of the Sassy Sauvignon Glass

So how did we bring that Sauvignon magic back home? We sketched, sipped, and sketched some more. Then we searched for the clearest glass to recycle and give to our glassblowers to work their mouth-blown magic. The Sassy Sauvignon glass was our answer to all the vibrant energy, sunshine, and endless bottles of Sauvignon Blanc we enjoyed during our time in there. It features:

  • A tall, elegant stem: Perfect for swirling (and let’s face it, you’ll feel a little fancy every time you pick it up).
  • A playful bulb at the base: Because, let’s be honest, Sauvignon Blanc isn’t a stuffy wine—it’s fun, fresh, and just a bit cheeky.
  • Airy, whimsical design: Just like the light breeze blowing through the vines, this glass is all about keeping things light and bright, just like the wine it’s made for.

So now, every time you pick up this glass, we hope it reminds you of everything we fell in love with in the Sauvignon region: the sun, the wine, the terroir, and that laid-back, effortlessly chic French vibe. À la semaine prochaine !

Provence

Salut, mes amis!

Ready to pop the cork on our second stop in the Tour de France series? This time, we’re heading south, where the rosé flows like a river and the sun never stops shining – Provence, baby!

Imagine yourself lounging on a terrace, overlooking endless fields of lavender, a glass of pale pink rosé in hand, and not a single email in sight. Welcome to la vie Provençale! From the bustling streets of Marseille to the quiet vineyards tucked between olive groves, this trip was a rêve come true.

First stop – Marseille! The cœur of Provence. We wandered the streets of this vibrant port city, stopping for bouillabaisse by the harbor and letting the salty sea breeze carry our worries away. But don’t be fooled by the laid-back atmosphere – Marseille’s energy is électrique! It’s all about living life with a little pizzazz. We sipped café au lait while watching locals buzz around the markets, and honestly, the only thing more magnifique than the people-watching was the wine selection. So, we sampled a glass or three of the local rosé. Because, you know, when in Provence

Speaking of wine, Provence isn’t just known for its rosé. We ventured deeper into the countryside, where vineyards stretch as far as the eye can see. The cépages (that’s fancy wine-speak for grape varieties) in this region are chef’s kiss. We’re talking Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre.

And let’s not forget about those iconic lavender fields. Rolling hills of purple as far as the eye can see, the scent of lavender filling the air like a calming parfum. It was almost enough to make us forget about our overflowing inboxes back home. Almost.

Now, let’s talk about the treasures that our Provence adventure inspired! While sipping that dreamy rosé and breathing in the lavender-scented breeze, we felt the need to capture the soul of Provence in a few handmade creations… Aroma Transparent, Napkin Holder Turquoise, and Take Me To Provence Transparent.

The Aroma Transparent incense holder is designed to bring a little calm and détente to your space. Crafted from recycled glass, it holds your favorite incense while whisking you away to the South of France with every whiff. Light it up, close your eyes, and it’s Provence in a puff of smoke.

And because no Provençal dining experience is complete without a petit touch of chic, we created the Napkin Holder Turquoise – a glass ring napkin holder, also handcrafted from recycled glass. Its vibrant turquoise hue is a nod to the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean, while its elegant, minimal design brings that laid-back sophistication right to your table. Whether you’re serving a casual apéro or a full-on Provençal feast, these napkin holders are le petit détail that will make your table pop.

Of course, we couldn’t leave without bringing a little piece of Provence back with us – and voilà, the Take Me to Provence Transparent wine glass was born. This glass isn’t just a vessel; it’s your personal invitation to a petit moment of Provence, no matter where you are. The Take Me To Provence wine glass is mouth-blown from recycled glass by our expert glassblowers ensuring each on is crafted with care. One sip from this beauty and you’re practically transported to a sun-soaked terrace, watching the world go by.

So, here’s our pro tip: next time you’re in need of a vacation but can’t hop on a plane, grab your Take Me to Provence glass, set the mood with the Aroma Transparent Incense Holder, and dress up your table with the Napkin Holder Turquoise. Let the joie de vivre wash over you & voilà – Provence, wherever you are! And, don’t forget that life is too short to drink boring wine!

À votre santé and see you next week!

Alsace

la-soufflerie-vacation-two-people-walking-in-alsace-france

Bonjour, La Soufflerie lovers!

We’ve just returned from an incroyable adventure through the heart of France and we are so excited to share this journey with you. The beauty and culture of each region has inspired the designs of our new collection called Tour de France, and each week we will highlight a region and the product it inspired in this new collection.

Our first escapade took us to the Alsace region in northeastern France, and let us tell you – it was love at first sip (and sight!). The rolling vineyards and half-timbered houses look straight out of a fairy tale, while the hills echo with La Vie en Rose. Yes, Alsace is that magical! We found ourselves utterly captivated – and slightly tipsy – as we swirled our way through Pinot Gris, Muscat, and sparkling Crémant d’Alsace. Naturally, this charming region sparked some inspiration, and voilà – the All Over Alsace wine glass was born!

This isn’t just any wine glass, mes amis. The All Over Alsace is a love letter to Alsace’s light and lively white wines. It’s got a tall stem and a smaller, elegant bowl – because let’s be real, we wanted it to look chic while keeping your wine at its best. And here’s the best part: it’s mouth-blown from 100% recycled glass by our incredibly talented artisans. That’s right, we’ve taken sustainability and savoir-faire to a whole new level! So you can sip on your favorite Alsatian wine while also giving a little bisou to the planet.

Now, let’s get back to those Alsatian delights: from Riesling with its crisp, zingy notes to Muscat’s fragrant, floral embrace, every wine we tasted felt like a celebration of this beautiful region. The wines are as diverse as the landscapes, from the majestic Vosges mountains to the quaint villages dotted with colorful flower boxes. Alsace, tu nous manques déjà!

Our All Over Alsace glass is designed to do justice to these exceptional wines, allowing you to experience their delicate aromas and flavors comme il faut. Whether you’re lounging on a sunlit terrace or dreaming of French vineyards from home, this glass brings a little bit of Alsace to your table.

So, grab a bottle (or two) of your favorite Alsatian wine, pour yourself a glass in our All Over Alsace, and let the wine—and the memories—flow.

Stay tuned for more adventures as we continue our Tour de France and bring you more fabulous creations inspired by the beautiful places we’ve visited.

Cheers to sipping in style and see you next week!

Candle care

Before lighting your candle, trim the wick to about 1/2-cm in length. This allows the candle to burn more slowly and also avoid unsightly black smoke marks around the edge of the glass.

Every time you burn your La Soufflerie candle, allow it to burn at least until the whole top of the candle is liquid. This will help your candle burn more evenly for each burning session.

After blowing out your candle, re-center and straighten the wick.
When using your candlestick holder, do not let the flame touch the glass. Blow the candle out once it gets close to the candle stick holder. Do not place your candle on a cool surface like marble. If the bottom of the hot candle comes in contact with a cold material, the glass may crack.

Do not burn your candle all the way down. Leave at least 1/2-cm of wax in the container to avoid cracking the bottom.Once you have finished burning your candle, hand wash with warm water and soap until the dried wax melts away. You now have a new La Soufflerie piece to use!

Cleaning care

All plaster and terracotta pieces are not suitable for use with water. You can dust each piece with a dry cloth.

General information

These are entirely made by hand and each creation is unique. Therefore, there may be a slight variation in color, texture, and size between each piece (approximately 1cm-2cm from piece to piece). On the base of each item, you can feel the pontil mark left by the glassblower’s cane. The presence of this mark indicates that the glass was blown freehand. This is the beauty of handmade.

Cleaning care

We do recommend handwashing as much as possible to avoid scratches from the dishwasher and to keep the glass sparkling. But, know that our glassware is dishwasher resistant and can be cleaned in the dishwasher

Colored glass

Pigmented glass is mixed into the furnace during the glassblowing. This means that the glass itself is colored instead of painted. Our glass is durable and no changes or fading occur with continued use over time.
